If your at a loose end on Friday night why not head on into London as Danny Rampling is putting on a Shroom night for some full on acid house 2019 style…
Acid house pioneer Danny Rampling brings his revolutionary club night Shoom back to London, and to the excellent Electric Brixton, on Friday 8 November. Danny will head up proceedings along with Shoom regulars Farley & Heller plus ILONA. Pioneering Detroit electronic music group Inner City, one of the most influential dance acts of all time, will be our very special guests.
Formed in the same year as Shoom in 1987, by record producer, composer and international DJ Kevin Saunderson, Inner City are best known for their early crossover hits “Big Fun” and “Good Life”. 2019 started a new era for Inner City under the fresh formation of Kevin Saunderson, his son Dantiez Saunderson + vocalist Steffanie Christi’an. As well as being busy in the studio, they toured a new live show across Europe hitting Glastonbury Festival, Manchester's Hacienda, Oval Space, Razzmatazz, Kala Festival, Lost Village, Moovin Festival, Cova Santa Ibiza, Shelter Amsterdam, Church Leeds – to name a few.
After the wonderful 25th and 30th anniversary show in recent years, Danny has hosted sell out Shoom parties around Europe, bringing in an array of some of the finest talent in house and techno, including Derrick May, Leftfield, Tony Humphries, DJ Pierre, Bushwacka!, Farley & Heller and many more.
Twice in 2018 Shoom had two sell out parties in Amsterdam, including a riotous New Years Eve, and last summer as part of the Paradi50 celebrations. Following this was the superb 'Future Love' party in Brighton in May of this year.
Inspired by the now legendary trip to Ibiza in the Summer of ‘87, Rampling founded Shoom in a bid to re-create the hedonistic experience found on the White Isle, and took over an intimate 300 capacity basement fitness centre venue at 56-58 Crown House Southwark, for its very first club night, on December 5th that same year.
Marketed with a simple smiley face logo - now rave culture's most ubiquitous symbol - and a wide ranging music policy, Shoom's reputation quickly grabbed a tight grip on the DJs and clubs of London, Manchester, and beyond, Shoom seemingly changed the face of youth culture and the house music scene forever.
Expect modern acid house combined with original Shoom classics, smileys, smoke, strobes, confetti, sirens - the whole package! Acid House anno 2019.
